At Vienna Driver, we love animals. Genuinely. But we don’t transport them in our vehicles — out of consideration for passengers with allergies and to maintain the cleanliness and comfort that every traveller deserves.
What we can do instead is help honestly. Because travelling by plane with a pet at home raises a question that’s often underestimated — what happens to the animal while you’re away?
Option 1: Pet care at home
The least stressful solution for the animal is often the simplest one: someone comes to the house. Whether friends, family or a professional pet sitter — the animal stays in its familiar surroundings, sleeps in its own bed and doesn’t need to adapt to a new environment.
Vienna has a number of professional pet sitters who visit daily or stay for the entire duration of your trip. Platforms like Rover or local pet care services are a good starting point.
Option 2: Pet hotel or boarding facility
For longer trips or when no one is available to come home, a boarding facility is a solid option. Vienna and the surrounding area have many reputable establishments — from straightforward kennels to proper pet hotels with individual care and daily outings.
One important note: book early, especially during holiday periods. Good boarding facilities fill up weeks in advance.
Option 3: Flying with your pet
Some airlines allow small animals in the cabin, others only in the hold. Rules vary significantly depending on the airline, the type of animal and the destination. Check directly with your airline — and pay close attention to the entry requirements of your destination country, which often require vaccination records and a microchip.
If your pet is flying with you, you’ll need a vehicle to Vienna Airport that accepts animals in carriers. Unfortunately that’s not something we offer — but there are specialised pet transport services in Vienna set up specifically for this.
What we can do for you
The journey to Vienna Airport — without your pet — we handle with pleasure. On time, reliable, at a fixed price. So you can focus on what matters — and leave knowing your animal is in good hands.
And if you’re travelling as a family and someone is staying home to look after the pet, our family and group transfer gets everyone to the airport together.
